Tilapia continues to be the most exported species from Brazilian fish farming, accounting for 98%, totaling over US$23 million, of 2022 exports. The species grew 28% compared to 2021. Tambaqui, with US$268,000, and surubim, with US$114,000, ranked second and third, respectively.
The main destinations for Brazilian fish farming in 2022 were the United States (81%), Canada (5%), Taiwan, Libya, and Mexico, both with 2%. Exports to the United States increased by 43%.
